My wife Liz and I acquired Growing Spaces in April 2018. We were initially attracted to the company as a Colorado-based manufacturing company making innovative and environmentally friendly products. We were excited to promote sustainable and healthy lifestyles through the manufacturing and installation of the Growing Dome.
I graduated from CU Boulder in Mechanical Engineering, and have been working for Colorado based manufacturing companies for the last 25 years. My core values revolve around efficiency, superior quality, exemplary customer experience and conscious business practices. We look forward to expanding our services, improving our capabilities and enabling more customers to grow healthy and nutritious food year-round without external power!
We live in Golden, CO with our three teenage boys. We love to travel, ski, hike, play board games and watch our boys play soccer.
I began working with Growing Spaces in the spring of 2011. Hired to answer telephones, I was soon coordinating our installation teams for builds and maintenance, as well as processing parts orders. Having grown up living off the grid, I learned the importance of renewable resources and conservation at an early age. Growing Spaces has helped me to foster these lessons from my childhood as well as help guide me towards a healthier lifestyle. I like to spend my free time with family and friends on the river- rafting or tubing. Also playing with my two dogs. Come winter, I like to snowboard, but am also a sucker for cuddling up by a warm fire with a good book.
I have worked at Growing Spaces since 2011, starting as a dome installer, later as the Production Manager, and now as Installation, Maintenance and Turn-Key support and project management. When working in the shop I prefer to listen to Sirius XM channel 23 the Grateful Dead or channel 60 Outlaw Country. In my free time I enjoy gardening, rafting, and hiking with my wife and dog. I spend my winters as a ski instructor, but look forward to returning to Growing Spaces every spring.
I graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 2009 and moved to Gunnison, Colorado to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduating from Western State Colorado University, I moved back to my home town. In my spare time, one may find me backpacking in the wilderness, cruising on a mountain bike, slacklining in the park, or skiing Wolf Creek. I enjoy growing my own food and have a large garden at home. I am an experienced beekeeper and I have been experimenting with aquaponics. I am always excited to share knowledge on these and other gardening and Growing Dome related subjects with others. I joined the Growing Spaces team in 2015, and enjoy being involved in all the exciting projects and developments happening around here!
With a degree in Marketing and Communications, she has spent years perfecting her art of storytelling. When she’s not working on marketing campaigns for Growing Spaces, she is adventuring in Colorado’s high alpine. The rest of the time you will find her working on her passion project Colorado Adventure Babes.
I began my journey at Growing Spaces in 2007. I have worked in several departments over the years. I love working for a company that embraces the new business culture, supports sustainability, and enables people to become self sufficient. Working at Growing Spaces has really helped me feel fullfilled in my passion for helping adults and children know what is in their food and where it comes from. I am a Colorado native and in addition to working at Growing Spaces I own my own spa & pool business. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my daughter and family, camping, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors.
Following discharge from the military and active duty in Vietnam in 1972, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Psychology in 1977. I then obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 1987. With over 38 years experience in Addictions and Mental Health Counseling, the past 25 years have included both clinical and administrative management of hospital and community based mental health programs. In addition, I acted as community liaison with other social service agencies, county jail programs, the courts, probation and law enforcement agencies. While working in S.W. Colorado within the past 11 years, I was recognized as a state approved trainer in addictions and mental health counseling, providing training to entry level therapists, Crisis Intervention Training for law enforcement personnel, and other social service agency personnel. I currently hold good standing licenses in the State of Colorado as a “Licensed Clinical Social Worker” and as a “Licensed Addictions Counselor”. My wife and I also own and operate a harmonic therapy studio in Pagosa Springs.
I am the lead gardener at Growing Spaces, but am also a content developer, artist and embodiment coach. I have a degree in Resiliency Leadership and Environmental Education, and have had the opportunity to study intensively under many thought-leaders in the fields of Environmental Agroforestry, Women’s Embodiment, Ayurveda, Astrology, Life-Coaching, Curriculum Design, and Biodynamic Beekeeping. When I’m not tending the gardens at Growing Spaces, I can be found rock climbing, high-lining, and soaking in the hot springs in southwest Colorado. Find my latest projects at www.womb-beeing.com
Greetings All, Richard Miller here! I’m a Vietnam veteran, master gardener and the retired vent maker. I used to make all the vents for each Growing Dome and did for as long as I can remember. Years ago, I was a professional in commercial steel design, fabrication, and erection. Awarded even, several times, however that didn’t stop the company I worked for from filing bankruptcy and, sorry to say, losing my full retirement! Now that I look back on it, if that didn’t happen I would never be writing this. I wouldn’t have had the time of building vents for each and everyone of you. And now, I get to share even more of my time in your gardening adventure as the Growing Spaces educator and ambassador! Be it backyard gardener, communities or a school to add gardening to curriculum, I am there. What an honor to support you all in your Growing Dome experience!
My husband Rick and I have been gardening through the winter at 7800 ft, and our 2 unheated domes have kept us in many varied vegetables, herbs, and even flowers. Even with snow outside, our domes are providing us with March thrills of growing figs, grapevine leaf set, hundreds of flowers on the pea vines, among many other exciting plants. And what a thrill it is to see the domes providing early sustenance for our bees and other pollinators, who so appreciate the food source in our many flowering plants.
I am happy to help provide guidance and education to all Growing Dome owners. I also teach many classes on gardening year-round in the Growing Dome, including how to best utilize your water tank and grow many varieties of aquatic plants.
We have so many great resources to maintain our gardens, experiment with new gardening techniques and provide great content for our Greenhouse Gardening Best Practices and Blog pages. We are also active participants in our Growing Dome Owners and Growing Dome Enthusiasts Facebook pages.
