Growing Dome Greenhouse Brings Hands-On Learning to Akron Students
It's always exciting to see how schools are using Growing Domes to bring learning beyond the classroom! At Garfield Community Learning Center in Akron, Ohio, a 42-foot Growing Dome greenhouse is giving students hands-on experience in gardening, sustainable food production, construction, and environmental education. From building raised garden beds to growing fresh ingredients for culinary classes, students are learning valuable skills while exploring the possibilities of year-round greenhouse growing.
The project was featured by Akron Public Schools, highlighting the many ways this educational greenhouse is bringing students and their community together. The Akron Beacon Journal also recently shared photos of the Growing Dome.

I graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2018 with a BA in Environmental Studies. I began working for Growing Spaces in August of 2020 and have had the pleasure of working in many departments. I enjoy being a part of this amazing team that helps others achieve their dream gardens! In my spare time, I enjoy working in the 15’ Growing Dome that my husband and I share.
