Do I need a building permit for a Growing Dome in Washington?

Permit requirements vary by county and city. Size thresholds, use classifications, and snow load requirements differ across the state, so call your building department early and tell them the footprint and that the structure is a greenhouse. Does a greenhouse make sense in western Washington's gray winters?

Yes, and damp is the thing to manage. Automated vents keep air exchanging on warm days, routine airflow keeps condensation in check, and our greenhouse mold guide covers the housekeeping. Light is the other limit, and the glazed dome collects it from every direction through short days.

Do you deliver and install in Washington?

Western Washington is a different problem than snow country. Winters are long, wet, and dark, and the limits are light and damp as much as cold. East of the Cascades the problem flips: mountain snow, hard freezes, and hot, dry summers.

The Growing Dome runs year-round in both. The glazed dome takes in light from every direction through short winter days, automated vents keep air moving so damp does not settle, and the above-ground water tank stores what heat the day gives and releases it overnight. For Cascade and eastern Washington sites, the frame is the one we build for Rocky Mountain snow: the kit can be built to withstand loads of 120 pounds per square foot and more with slight modifications.
