Year-Round Greenhouse in New Hampshire: Growing Fresh Produce All Year

NESEA Green Buildings Open House features Growing Dome® greenhouse

A main interest of this season’s tour is the year-round, energy-efficient 33-foot diameter Growing Dome® greenhouse in Thornton, New Hampshire.  This year-round geodesic greenhouse can be run completely from solar power, is able to withstand high winds and heavy snow loads, and outlasts all competitors by standing its ground for many, many years.

Growing Spaces Sales Associates and Dome Owners since 2005,  Rick & Joann Vollmer will open the door to their 33′ Growing Dome this Saturday – October 2nd.  Joann, pictured in the photo at left along with the mini Dome model, recently gave a presentation on the Growing Dome and its benefits at her local library.  Together, the two can answer any questions that come up, while Rick has been a Certified Growing Dome Installer for quite some time now.

Full of plants, veggies, flowers, and even an aquatic tank housing water plants as well as fish, their Growing Dome is able to provide them with fresh produce all year round in New Hampshire.

The NESEA Green Buildings Open House Tour is the largest sustainable energy event in the Northeastern USA! Over 16,000 people toured over 500 Open House sites in October 2009.  NESEA works with over 70 local organizers and member businesses to market the event, increase participation, and promote its member’s services.

The Vollmers and their 33′ Growing Dome greenhouse are located in Thornton, NH 03285.

Kyle joined the Growing Spaces team in 2015, and enjoys being involved in all the exciting projects and developments happening around here!I graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 2009 and moved to Gunnison, Colorado to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduating from Western State Colorado University, I moved back to my home town Pagosa Springs. Since moving back home in 2013, I have been working to develop a farm in Arboles. In my spare time, one may find me backpacking in the wilderness, cruising on a mountain bike, slacklining in the park, or skiing Wolf Creek. I also enjoy creating art when I am not outdoors. The mediums that I enjoy working with are yarn, canvas and paint, and clay. I have been experimenting with aquapoinics and am always excited to share knowledge on the subject with others.
