The Growing Dome Greenhouse: A hands-on,
living classroom all year long!
“We love our Growing Dome! The kids have had some amazing experiences in there! We are eating from the greenhouse every Wednesday when we cook lunch together, and our Tilapia fingerlings are arriving to stock the water tank soon. My entire middle school science curriculum centers around the work that we do together in the greenhouse. The Dome has provided me with a beautiful, productive, and soothing environment in which to work with my students. Thank you!” -Corey Borgman of Community Montessori School
Roaring Fork High School
Those that attended the public meeting for the proposed 42′ Growing Dome greenhouse project at Roaring Fork High made a touching statement of community by standing together to form a 42′ diameter circle – matching that of the Growing Dome greenhouse so many are hoping for.
“The Roaring Fork School District Board of Education is in unanimous support of the Green House Project at Roaring Fork High School. The benefits to both the school and community are better and we are pleased to offer the site for the green house and garden on school property for this purpose. We are also pleased about the collaboration with teachers at the high school who are enthusiastic about having this worth while addition to their curriculum
Sincerely,
Judy Haptonstall”
Yampah Mountain High School
Students at YMHS in Carbondale, Colorado took part in the build. The Growing Dome greenhouse installed at Yampah High in 2009 has inspired neighboring Roaring Fork High School to raise funds for a 42′ Growing Dome!

With the assembly of their 33′ diameter Growing Dome, the students at Lincoln Middle School have been turned on to an entirely different kind of learning!
In lieu of ordinary handouts and over head-projector lessons, the children are able to completely connect themselves with the cycles of nature and actually see -right in front of them- a seed germinate, grow, thrive, and in the end produce something magical that they are able to see, touch, smell – and even eat!!
““It’s good to know where your food comes from and actually know what you’re eating”
